SUBJECT:  Airborne Cavalry THOUGHT:  Speed isn't everything, but it's often enough.

Here is the information I have collected on 7th Company of the Vindicators, know as the Griffins.

Codex Griffins: Specifics on supplying the 7th Company

The Griffins rely on air and space power, exclusively using landspeeders in their ground war.  Every marine is either a pilot or a gunner, and is rigorously trained for that roll.  Very little time is devoted to infantry training; the Griffins preferring to level a city rather than cleanse it.  In fact, it is a rare circumstance for the Griffins to even land dirt-side, relying on their orbital space-to-ground assets to accomplish the objective.
When this company of pilots does operate on the ground, they implore hit-and-run tactics to strike key enemy positions, weaving their landspeeders expertly through the terrain to mask themselves from ground fire.  The landspeeders operate under the cover of Crusader air cover, and often screen Thunderhawk gunships in sieges.  To give the landspeeder a long-range punch, the Griffins have developed the Hurricane Landspeeder.
The Hurricane is a heavy attack craft.  Mounting a Hunter-Killer missile on each side under the stabilizer fin, the Hurricane is capable of pinpoint destruction of anything within visual range.  In addition, a chin-mounted assault cannon can mow down infantry and tear apart many armored vehicles up close.   This combination of close and long-range strength make the Hurricane a deadly adversary, albeit an adversary very hungry for ammunition.  Only the best are allowed to fly Hurricanes.
The Griffins rarely operate on their own, and often support another marine company in a campaign.  In these circumstances, the marines on the ground can count on a squadron of landspeeders to respond to any situation within minutes.  For many, the high-pitched whine of repulsors accompanied by the low, rhythmic rumble of pulse engines is the last thing they hear.
