SUBJECT: Weapon Testing | THOUGHT: Knowledge is hidden from those that do not seek it. |
Lord, what follows are some intercepted transmissions from a tech-marine in the field to his superiors. Apparently he questions the righteousness of his equipment. Perhaps these marines have allowed demons to possess their weaponry, by not following the proper cleaning and maintenance rituals. I shall investigate this further.
Missile Launcher: Fragmentation or Krakatoa missile?
Target vs Weapon | Krakatoa Missile Chance to kill 1 individual when hit |
Fragmentation Missile Chance to kill 1 individual when hit |
Notes |
Vs. Renegade Marines (statistics base on battle reports during the War of Passage) |
One hit: 83%
in open, 54% chance in cover |
One hit:
16.5% Two hit: 30.5% Three hit: 44.5% Four hit: 53.7% Five hit: 61.4% Six hit: 70.2% Seven hit: Undocumented event |
Based on this study, it is recommended to always use a Krakatoa missile against Renegade Marines. The only exception to this is when you can hit four or more renegades in cover, which is an exceedingly rare event. |
Vs. Eldar Guardians | One hit: 83%
in open, 54% chance in cover |
One hit:
44.4% Two hit: 69.1% Three hit: 82.9% Two kills: 55.4% Four hit: 89.7% Two kills: 69% |
Clearly, the frag missile is the best option against weak races such as the Eldar. Frag missile are only marginally less effective against Aspect Warriors. |
Vs. Armored Orks | One hit: 83%
in open, 54% chance in cover |
One hit: 25% Two hit: 43.7% Three hit: 57.8% Two kills: 15.6% Four hit: 68.4% Two kills: 28.9% |
Against a tough, well-armored foe, the frag missile is inadequate. However, there have been cases where one warhead has killed three or four, so opting to hit 3 or more will pay off in the long run. |
This study was conducted after many commanders expressed concern over the capabilities of a fragmentation warhead.
