SUBJECT: Tank Commander's Litany | THOUGHT: Prayer without faith is the ultimate heresy. |
Lord, what follows is an actual prayer recorded by one of my many listening devices I have planted among the examined. I have found no record of it within any holy texts, so it must be of their own creation. I suppose they believe it was inspired by the Emperor, but I have my doubts.
+++++++++++++++
As I guide my metal beast,
with the Emperor by my side,
we first support our brethren,
following their strides.
And once our brothers have begun to fight,
we seek a position to show our might.
From hilltop and valley,
from forest and gully,
the heathen we vindicate
with a heavenly cannonade.
And once our brothers have had their feast,
we look after our lovely metal beast.
+++++++++++++++
Lord, this prayer was recorded
during a live fire exercise. It featured a squadron of 3
siege tanks supported by roughly 30 marines attacking a fortified
position. I couldn't have imagined such a small force using
three of these tanks with behemoth cannons. I was also
surprised to see that these tanks mounted a larger kind of bolter
than the Vindicator Siege Tank STC calls for; a weapon much more
potent than the standard storm-class bolter. Perhaps these
marines have incorporated some kind of heretical, alien
technology into their sacred weapons.
These tanks also carried the large
Hunter-Killer missiles, as well as an ECM device. While I
have found no record of this configuration anywhere else, I would
not want to be on the receiving end of these sieges...
However, I was mortified to witness defense
weapons manned by people within the fortified compound, firing
upon the marines. Many marines were horribly wounded, while
all of the people within the fortification were blown to
pieces. There must have been at least 20 civilians within
the compound that lost their lives in this training
exercise. The marines didn't seem to think anything of
it. If their blatant disregard for the lives of their
fellow man is this callous, I cannot think of any reason why the
Vindicator Chapter should be allowed to exist. Alas, the
decision is not mine.
