COMMIT
TO: Inquisition Record 1352 624-2000
CROSS FILE: Inquisition of the Vindicators
INPUT DATE: 4127292.M35 |
AUTHOR:
Inquisitor Adept Knija
TRANSMITTER: Astropath Secundus Zarian
RECEIVER: Astropath Prime Algmar |
SUBJECT:
Rules of Conduct |
THOUGHT: Even
in the worst of battles, your enemy suffers losses. |
The following are taken
from the Codex Astartes. While primarily a Codex for
Marines, the following should apply to every commander.
- No foul language
- Cover and
Terrain: Before the battle starts, go over every
piece of terrain and how it affects LOS, cover, and
movement.
- WYSIWYG: Fully
disclose every model when it is deployed, and answer any
questions about its statistics and wargear.
- LOS: Be
generous. These models represent living things on
the battlefield, and could lean through windows and
doors. If possible, use measuring sticks to connect
the models to determine LOS.
- Only measure distances
while actually moving, shooting, and assaulting.
- You do not need to be
exact when moving. It's ok to be off by 1/4"
If it is not too confusing, roll a whole squad/unit's
shooting at once, using different colored dice for
special weapons and characters.
- Convention:
Count out loud how many dice you are rolling, roll to
hit, pick up the ones that hit, and roll to wound.
Your opponent then picks up the wounds to roll to save.
- Disclose why you are
rolling the dice and what you need to achieve your
result ("I'm rolling to hit with this squad of
marines: need 3+ to hit.")
- Roll the dice in clear
view of everyone.
- Roll scatter dice as
close as possible to what is scattering.
- Any die that is
leaning in any way must be re-rolled.
- Any dice that fall of
the table must be re-rolled.
- If you are allowed
re-rolls, actually re-roll the dice. (You can't
roll 6 dice for a twin Heavy Bolter and count only 3
hits.)
- When a rules question
comes up, if you can't quote a Codex or agree as to what
is written within one minute, roll a D6 and go on.
- After the battle,
discuss it with your opponent. Ask what he thought
you were doing, what you did well, and what you did
poorly.
- If you were beaten by
a beardy/cheesy tactic, ask your opponent how it can be
beaten.
- Have fun, its just a
game.
